Getting down to business is something that Blackberry Smoke has always been good at. In addition to winning fans and friends throughout the United States, they've toured Europe three times, had their songs featured in movie and video-game soundtracks, and performed for country legend George Jones (who guested on the band's second album) on his 80th birthday.

Jones isn't the only notable artist who's come out as a Blackberry Smoke fan. Dierks Bentley, Jamey Johnson, Grace Potter and the Zac Brown Band have all gone on record as admirers, while ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons admiringly advised, "The band is tight enough. Quit practicing!" Another impressive authority, Gregg Allman stated "That band is gonna put Southern Rock back on the map."

Joan Jett is an originator, an innovator, and a visionary. As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, with whom she has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she's had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles. She sits at the head of her own independent label, Blackheart Records. Jett has also acted in movies and television. Her music has become a permanent force in mainstream culture.
Since co-founding the Runaways, the pioneering all-girl punk quintet, at age 15, Jett's determination and drive have kept her in the public eye. Jett was able to see her story told in 2010 film The Runaways.

"I've had a blessed career" she says, "I consider myself so lucky to have been able to do things my own way."

With a pair of double-platinum albums, Warrant was one of the most popular pop-metal bands of the late '80s. Formed in Los Angeles in the mid-'80s, the group featured vocalist Jani Lane, guitarist Erik Turner, guitarist Joey Allen, bassist Jerry Dixon, and drummer Steven Sweet. They released “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich” in 1989. By the middle of that year, it had climbed into the Top Ten. Released in the summer of 1990, “Cherry Pie” was an even bigger success and once again found its way into the Top Ten.

Arizona Bike Week Charities Group

Historically the ABW Hero Award has been given to an outstanding individual. This year is really no exception to that, as the 2016 recipient is one amazing team that works as a cohesive unit for a very noble and essential cause.

Two years ago Arizona Bike Week was approached by a couple gentlemen named Kajer and Santa with a question. “What do you do with the charity funds you raise?” Our answer was that many of the ABW Charity funds are predesignated for specific charities, such as T-Bar Trail Ride proceeds, which are sent to breast cancer charities. With the funds left over, that aren’t earmarked for a specific cause, ABW sends checks to various community individuals or groups wherever we see a need we can fill. They looked at us and said, “Writing checks is nice but we can do better”. Kajer and Santa then went on to present a well thought out plan to utilize those undesignated funds to create and execute real community service projects. Their mission as they explained, was to focus on addressing the needs of local children, adults, military and foster families within our community. They would provide assistance in hopes of achieving happy memories for those they serve, while inspiring individuals to do good things and give back to the community. Out of this meeting, the Arizona Bike Week Charities Group was formed.

Then came the question as to how we could supplement the available funds, in order to enable the group to provide more support to those in need. Collectively we came up with what we call the “Will Work for Donations” philosophy. You will see them both during Arizona Bike Week and throughout the year at various events, putting their extensive skills to good use. Whatever you see them doing at the event, whether it be running ride registrations, camper check-in, auction support staff, etc., be aware that they are all donating 100% of their income to the charity. This group of dedicated individuals selflessly give long hours of hard work to support their mission.

After only two years, the ABW Charities Group annual holiday toy drive has become a huge success, thanks to the tremendous support of our local biker community. The 2015 drive enabled the group to collect nearly six hundred items fulfill Christmas dreams and wishes for eighty families.

When you see one of these fine ABW Charity Group members at an event, please take a moment to say hello and thank them for all they do.

We are especially honored to present our 20th Anniversary ABW Hero Award to the Arizona Bike Week Charities Group!!

Blues Traveler started as a high school garage band in the mid-eighties. After graduating, they moved to Brooklyn (all sharing an apartment) and began playing the New York club circuit. It was at one of these shows that they were scouted by A&M Records and landed their first recording contract. They released their debut, self-titled album in 1990. Seventeen years after scoring their Grammy Award winning, Billboard Top Ten breakthrough hit, Blues Traveler are still finding unique ways to ensure that they don’t give their legion of worldwide fans the “Run-Around.” They have become well known as a “Jam Band” and for their unpredictable, improvisational, live performances.

Tribe is a hard-rocking band from Phoenix, where they’ve been banging it out for fifteen years. Playing a wide variety of rock from Bon Jovi to Godsmack, Tribe is highly energized and entertaining.

*** Arizona Bike Week would like to recognize a very special member of Tribe. Guitar player, Jimmy Ellis was diagnosed in December of 2014 with stage 4, inoperable brain cancer. Doctors estimated Jimmy would have no more than 3 – 6 months to live. Then in June of 2015 an MRI revealed that Jimmy was cancer free! The doctors can find no word to use other than “miracle”. We are thrilled to have Jimmy alive and well and back on the HandleBar Saloon stage! Jimmy jokingly calls this his “Back from the Dead Tour”.

The long version of Social Distortion's bio could be a 10-part mini-series. But over the past 30 years, the punk godfathers in the band have all but trademarked their sound, a brand of hard rockabilly/punk that's cut with the melodic, road-tested lyrics of frontman Mike Ness. Their searing guitars and a locomotive rhythm section sound as alive today as they did in '82, as do Ness' hard-luck tales of love, loss and lessons learned.

As the story goes, RATT helped pioneer Hollywood’s legendary Sunset Strip sound and scene in the 1980's. Signed to Atlantic Records in 1984 the band’s debut album "Out of the Cellar" went over 3x Platinum in 1984. World infestation had begun. Since 1983 to present the band has sold in excess of (15) million records in the US alone. Their first (4) records went Platinum plus and the arenas concerts were selling out. RATT celebrated (30) years in 2014, keeping Ratt N’ Roll ALIVE. Current Lineup: Bobby Blotzer (drums), Doc Ellis (guitar), Blaze (guitar), Josh Alan (vocals), Scotty Griffin (bass)

Buckcherry aren’t afraid to push buttons. This is the band that vaulted to stardom on the dangerous and dirty fuel of their 1999 gold-selling self-titled debut. These are also the boys behind the rousing, raucous, and raunchy “Crazy Bitch” off 2006’s 15, which turned them into a multi-platinum phenomenon and a household name. Lest we forget, 2013’s Confessions, a bold and brave concept album tackling the seven deadly sins and courting controversy head-on with razor sharp riffing and pensive, poetic lyricism. So, it only makes sense that 2014 would see them unleash their most audacious audio statement yet—the Fuck EP. For years, the band—Josh Todd [vocals], Keith Nelson [guitar], Stevie D. [guitar], Xavier Muriel [drums], and Kelly LeMieux [bass]—wanted to put out an EP. As for the theme itself, it’s something that only Buckcherry could pull off given their unbridled punk ethos and rock ‘n’ roll history. The collection’s six songs pay homage to everybody’s favorite four-letter word.

The Busted Knuckles Stunt Tour is a Kick Ass, V-Twin Thrill Show performed solely on Harley-Davidson motorcycles. These American Daredevils perform stunts that include wheelies, acrobatics, burnouts, jumps, pyro, and whatever else these crazy performers have up their sleeve. Every show is unique and different. You never know what tricks you may see during each show or what tricks they may come up with in the middle of it all. Exciting, crazy, fun, and just Bad Ass are just a few words to describe the Busted Knuckles Stunt Tour. A loud and energetic crowd is just fuel to the riders fire. So the louder the crowd gets, the wilder they get!

METALHEAD was formed in 2003 out of the love of big hair and big rock anthems, tight harmonies and tight fitting leather, great times and great songs you can't help but sing along with. Bringing the nostalgic music and over the top sold out concert energy together, METALHEAD has performed for over 10 years to countless packed crowds of people looking for the best time and most fun way to share the excitement. Performing sold out club shows for hundreds nightly locally in AZ as well as regional shows in CA, NM, UT etc, METALHEAD has also been contracted to "bring the 80's back" at huge corporate functions, both for major US companies and for tens of thousands at sports events, such as Phoenix Suns/Coyotes games and the world renowned annual Birds' Nest at the TPC Scottsdale Open golf tournament.
